Our successful growth in Europe

In May 1999, SWS acquired acquired Lucas SEI Wiring Systems Ltd in the UK and so Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems – Europe (SEWS-E) was established.

We have in that time, cemented valuable relationships with our growing customer base and suppliers and have grown our business, with a turnover in excess of €700M, operating across more than 50 sites, throughout Europe and North Africa, now employing 20,000 people.

2000 Opened Technical and Commercial support office in Paris, France
2001 Opened factory in Deva, Romania
2002 Formed SEWS-CE Components Group
2003 Established SEWS –AWH European cable manufacturing in Hungary
2004 Opened factory in Alba Iulia, Romania
2005 Established SEWS-CE Budapest Commercial and Logistics Centre
2006 Expanded SEWS-CEH manufacturing and introduced Electronics capability
2007 Opened factory in Kenitra, Morocco
2008 Opened factory in Ain Aouda, Morocco
2009 Opened factory in Port Said, Egypt
2010 Established distribution centre in St Petersburg, Russia
2011 Opened factory in Kenitra Freezone, Morocco
2012 Relocated Paris office to new purpose built office
2013 Established joint venture in Yekaterinburg, Russia
2014 Opened new site in Ingolstadt, Germany
2015 Opened factory in Tarnaveni, Romania
